At peak, Watermark had nearly 80 communities, many sending multiple marketing emails each week. While I was primarily the one building and sending those, it was important that the templates be as easy as possible for novices to update. I built responsive HTML to be compatible with the Pardot (Salesforce Marketing Cloud Account Engagement) email editor, allowing for easy customization while maintaining brand compliance.
Turning the approved designs into email templates for all communities under the Watermark umbrella was a daunting undertaking. I turned to some clever automation to streamline the process. Using a shared spreadsheet originally built as a master doc for community information, I built in formulas to pull the community information into HTML code, varying based on which sub-brand the specific community fell under.
I also used similar formulas to build out templates for communities to communicate with their residents, and later an e-newsletter template.
